Starlink has changed the rules of the game. Where high-speed internet was once impossible — a farm building out in the Elche countryside, a construction site in the Murcia hills, a campsite on the Cartagena coast — it is now within reach with a dish that fits in a rucksack. But there is a vast difference between buying a dish and getting it working, and having a professional installation that lasts for years without trouble.
Starlink sells the antennas directly to the customer. You can buy one, take it out of the box and put it on the roof in an afternoon. But 80% of the incidents we see in DDR360 come from home installations or non-specialized installers:
Each of these failures has a concrete technical explanation; it is not bad luck. A dish bolted to a generic mast with no wind-load calculation acts like a sail: above a certain gust speed it starts to oscillate, and Starlink's satellite tracking system — which already has to recalculate the angle constantly because the satellites are in low Earth orbit (LEO) and move relative to the dish — loses its reference and disconnects for seconds at a time. Standard unshielded network cable, designed for indoor use, is not rated for continuous ultraviolet exposure or for wet-dry cycling; the typical medium-term result is intermittent signal loss caused by oxidation of the copper pairs. And domestic RJ45 connectors, being unsealed, let moisture travel along the cable by capillary action — in coastal areas such as Torrevieja or Santa Pola, salt accelerates corrosion of the contacts within weeks rather than years.

A professional Starlink installation follows a fixed sequence; it is not a matter of "putting the dish wherever there is room". This is how we do it at DDR360:
Before touching a single screw, we measure what percentage of the sky visible from the installation point is clear of obstructions — trees, neighbouring buildings, towers, chimneys. A Starlink dish needs to "see" a wide portion of sky in order to stay in constant contact with the low-orbit satellite constellation. An obstacle covering one particular band of sky does not block the connection all the time, but at the exact moment the active satellite crosses that band — hence the intermittent, apparently random dropouts of badly sited installations. The sky survey determines the best possible position on the plot or roof before anything else is decided.
The domestic Starlink kit includes a weighted-base tripod, intended for quick testing rather than a permanent installation. We do not use it. We fix the dish to a wall or mast with a mount calculated to withstand winds of up to 150 km/h, the structural design reference we apply on the Mediterranean coast, where the levante and poniente winds can reach strong gusts fairly often. A weighted tripod can tip over or shift in a strong gust, throwing the dish out of alignment or, at worst, causing it to fall.
With the dish secured, we run shielded Category 6A FTP cabling from outside to the router, with specific RJ45-to-SPX connectors to maintain weatherproofing IP67 along the whole run — not only at the dish connector, but also where it passes through the façade and at any joint.
Once the dish is operational, we configure the dedicated MikroWizard VPN tunnel between the customer's router and our VPS with a fixed Spanish public IP, solving the CGNAT problem (explained in detail below).
We do not consider the installation finished on the day. We leave the system under observation for 72 hours, checking signal stability in different conditions (day, night, wind, rain if there is any) before formal handover. From then on, the link stays under continuous monitoring so that degradation is detected before the customer notices an outage.
Starlink is not a single product. There are four plans with different network priority, mobility and price, and choosing the wrong one is a common mistake on installations carried out without technical advice:

The difference between Business and Residential is not just the price: at times of high demand on the Starlink network in a given area, Business traffic is prioritised over residential. For a company whose operations depend on the connection — a card terminal, a VoIP phone system, cloud security cameras — that priority is the difference between a brief slowdown and a genuine loss of service. Roam, for its part, is designed to move: a construction site needs Roam because the location changes as the work progresses, whereas a fixed office with continuous activity benefits from Business network priority, not from Roam's mobility.
The most vulnerable part of any Starlink installation is the cable. The dish sits outdoors — sun, rain, wind, salt. The cable connecting it to the router inside passes through the façade. If that cable is not designed for outdoor use, you will have problems within six months.

Starlink uses CGNAT. Your dish does not have a unique public IP. This means you cannot reach your security cameras, your server, your VoIP phone system or any other system from outside the office.
Our platform MikroWizard solves this by creating a dedicated VPN tunnel between a VPS with a fixed Spanish public IP and your Starlink router. The result: remote access to all your systems from anywhere in the world, just as if you had a fibre line with a public IP.

A good share of the Starlink installations we carry out are precisely outside built-up areas — rural plots, farm buildings, country houses, construction sites — which is where fibre does not reach and where satellite makes sense.
We do not publish a flat rate because it would be false. The real cost of a Starlink installation depends on four variables that can only be known by seeing the site: the height and type of roof, the metres of cabling to wherever the router is, whether a mast or structural reinforcementis needed, and whether there are obstructions to be resolved by moving the mounting point. Publishing a "from €X" that then triples on the invoice is a practice we would rather not follow.

Important note on the cost of the service: the Starlink monthly fee and the price of the dish kit are set by SpaceX directly and have nothing to do with us. You take out the service with Starlink; we install, configure and maintain the equipment. It is worth being clear about this, because some people roll it all into a single figure.
Starlink is sold directly to the end customer and anyone can put up a dish. The difference shows up later: when the first levante storm arrives, when the signal starts failing after three weeks, or when you need to reach your cameras from outside and discover that you cannot. That is when it matters who answers the phone.
And one thing we would rather state plainly: we are not official Starlink installers, because no such programme exists publicly in Spain. We are independent professional installers specialising in this equipment. Be wary of anyone claiming that label without being able to evidence it.
It depends how much an outage costs your business. For most small and medium businesses, a properly installed Starlink Business — with a prior sky survey and structural mounting — works reliably as the main connection. If your activity depends critically on always being online (a card terminal that cannot stop taking payments, for instance), the sensible approach is to combine it with a second route — fibre if available, or a second mobile connection — configured for automatic failover. It is the same logic we apply on business backhaul projects.
On most installations the complete process — sky survey, structural mounting, sealed cabling and configuration — is completed within one working day. The 72-hour stability test is carried out with the system already operational, without the customer having to wait on site.
The dish is designed to operate in rain; the manufacturer even includes a self-heating mode for snow and ice. What can affect the signal is very heavy rain (rain fade), much as it affects any radio-frequency link, but these are brief degradations during the episode rather than prolonged outages. A poorly secured installation, on the other hand, does suffer in the wind that usually accompanies storms — hence the importance of structural mounting over the factory tripod.
Physically yes, but every move means repeating the sky survey at the new location — obstructions change completely from one roof to another — and reviewing the structural mounting. If your work involves frequent changes of location (construction, trade fairs, events), the Roam plan is designed precisely for that, without having to reinstall from scratch each time.
Yes. MikroWizard creates the dedicated VPN tunnel regardless of whether the dish is Business, Residential, Roam or Maritime — the requirement is that the dish has an internet connection; our platform on the VPS handles the rest. This matters particularly for plans with no native public IP because of CGNAT, which is the general case with Starlink.
Yes, that is the most common arrangement. Starlink sells you the kit and ships it to your home; we simply take care of installing it properly. You do not need to buy anything from us for us to carry out the installation, nor must the equipment have been purchased through us. If you have not bought it yet, we can carry out the sky survey beforehand to confirm your location is viable.
The mounting itself usually takes one to two hours on a straightforward installation. When it involves going up onto the roof, fitting a mast, reinforcing the mount or running a good many metres of sealed cable, the day gets longer. That is why we plan for a full day: we would rather finish the sealing and the mounting properly than wrap up quickly and come back in three months.
