Elche has one of the largest concentrations of industrial land in Alicante province: Carrús, Torrellano, Altabix, Els Bassars, the area around the airport. Manufacturing, logistics and warehousing units where access control isn't just about "who enters the building", but who and what comes through the main gate — lorries, vans, forklifts — several times a day.

The challenge of supplier traffic

In an industrial unit or warehouse, most of the people moving through aren't permanent staff: they're hauliers, suppliers and one-off visitors. A system built only for employee cards falls short as soon as you need to manage that variable traffic without a security guard stationed at the gatehouse all day.

The solution we install combines two layers: automatic number-plate reading at the entrance barrier for recurring vehicles (regular suppliers, own fleet), and temporary access by date and time for one-off visits, generated from HikCentral without anyone having to get out of the vehicle or show anything at the gatehouse.

Staff on foot: turnstiles and DESFire

For pedestrian access — offices inside the unit, changing rooms, staff entrances — DESFire card turnstiles serve a different purpose from the vehicle barrier: they stop unauthorised people slipping in during the movement of goods, something that's hard to control with a door simply left open during loading and unloading.

Centralised management with HikCentral

Everything is coordinated from a single console: who has access to which zone, at what time, and a complete history of every entry and exit. If the unit runs several shifts, you can set different time slots per profile — production, admin, cleaning — without having to manage physical keys for each group.

For units that also have CCTV, integration within the same Hikvision ecosystem lets you cross-reference the access log with the recording of the exact moment of each entry, useful both for security and for resolving incidents with hauliers.

Frequently asked questions

Does the number-plate reading barrier work with any vehicle, or does each one need to be registered?

The number plate has to be registered in HikCentral, but registration is done once and takes seconds. From then on, any authorised vehicle — your own van, a regular supplier's lorry, an employee's car — opens the barrier without the driver having to get out or show any card.

Can temporary access be given to a haulier who only comes once?

Yes. For one-off visits, there's no need to register the number plate permanently: you can generate temporary access valid only for a specific date and time slot, or open manually from the app when the gatehouse or reception lets you know.

Can you install in a rented unit, or do we need to be the owner?

It can be installed in rented units without any problem. We recommend checking with the property owner beforehand what changes the lease allows to the facade or perimeter, especially if the barrier requires civil works; the cabling and readers themselves don't usually need special permits.

What happens if the system fails and there's a lorry waiting at the entrance?

Door and barrier controllers store authorised credentials locally, so they keep working even if the internet connection fails. We also always set up a manual emergency opening mode so that loading and unloading doesn't stop because of a one-off outage.

How long does it take you to install on an industrial estate in Elche?

We work by scheduled appointment, usually within the same week. The installation itself, for a unit with one vehicle barrier and two or three pedestrian access points, is usually completed in one or two days, including HikCentral configuration.
